Luma privacy policy
Luma is made by Acacia Boat — Silvio Eusebio. This policy describes the information handled by the macOS app and its optional features.
Codex conversations
With the access you grant, Luma reads local Codex activity and conversation data to show messages, public progress summaries, tool activity, files, questions and task status. It can communicate with your installed Codex desktop app or run your chosen local Codex CLI executable as an app server. Codex handles sign-in and service authentication. Replies, images and decisions you explicitly send are passed to Codex for processing under your Codex account, configuration and service terms.
Conversation text is processed on your Mac and recent messages are held in memory. Acacia Boat does not receive your conversations. Luma does not send conversation text to your Hue Bridge. Chat names, task identifiers, emoji, window positions and preferences are saved locally. Image previews may be decoded into temporary local files; the app removes its temporary preview directory during normal cleanup.
Optional voice
Local voice generates speech on your Mac. Its one-time model download contacts Hugging Face, which receives the network information needed for that download. Chat text is not included in the model download. Model files and voice settings are stored locally.
If you enable OpenAI voice, Luma sends the text to be spoken, speech instructions and your API key to OpenAI’s speech service. Text can include progress updates, task announcements, your optional name and, if Read my replies is enabled, your new replies. OpenAI processes requests according to its API terms and data policies. This optional feature has separate API billing. Generated speech is played on your Mac. You can disable voice or remove its key in Settings. The API key is stored in macOS Keychain. Luma does not record your microphone.
Hue lights
Luma exchanges pairing and light-control data with your Hue Bridge over the local network. Pairing credentials and the Bridge certificate fingerprint are kept in macOS Keychain. The app saves the previous light settings for restoration. Hue discovery may contact discovery.meethue.com; that service receives ordinary network request information, including your public IP address. It does not receive your chat text or Bridge credentials from Luma.
Web previews and ChatGPT
When you open a website link, Luma loads that page in a built-in browser using temporary website storage. The website receives the same network information and any information you enter as it would in a browser. Its own privacy policy applies. Luma does not send it your Codex chat history automatically.
The separate ChatGPT window loads the ChatGPT website and keeps its website session locally. Messages, login and cookies in that window are handled by ChatGPT under its own policies. Luma does not share your speech API key with that website. You can sign out on the website.
Optional desktop lighting
If you enable desktop lighting and grant macOS screen-recording access, Luma samples screen colors to light its character. This processing is local. Luma does not upload screen captures to Acacia Boat. Disabling the feature stops its capture work.
Local settings and games
Luma stores app preferences, selected chats, chosen lights, permitted-folder bookmarks, downloaded voice models and local game scores on your Mac. Minigames use task activity locally. Quitting stops activity monitoring. You can disconnect the Bridge, remove the voice key and change folder access in Settings.
No advertising or analytics
Luma has no advertising or analytics SDKs. Acacia Boat does not operate a server receiving Luma activity. Apple handles purchases and any diagnostics you choose to share under Apple’s policies. Optional external services described above have their own data handling practices.
